CAPTAIN UPBEAT AFTER WIN

February 20, 2012

Dundee Stars press release

With every fixture taking on the mantle of a must-win game, Dundee CCS Stars 28-year-old captain AJ MacLean felt that all of the guys had the correct mentality going into the Edinburgh Capital game on Saturday evening.

He said: “Everybody to a man played well and it was a huge turnaround in points, as defeat would have left us trailing them by seven but now the gap is only three.

"We were a little indifferent early on and took a few penalties. However, as the game wore on we found the way to trouble them and took control of the game.

“We're not going to stop this push for the play-offs until it’s mathematically impossible for us to qualify and hopefully we will see this through to a successful conclusion.

“It’s been a rough year for us and the fans but hopefully things are starting to come together for us now. The schedule that lies ahead allows us to be hopeful of success and we have to follow this good result with others.

“The schedule slackens off a little this week and having a few days off will help us sort out the bumps and bruises that guys ultimately carry at this time of year, and then it’s back to getting our body and minds ready for another huge weekend.

“The fans have been fantastic all year for us and against Edinburgh they turned up in large numbers and got behind us the entire evening.

"It makes all the difference to us and it’s an extra man that the opposition are powerless to do anything about. We appreciate it so much."
