Fife Flyers take on Sheffield Steelers on Saturday evening in the hope of taking revenge from there last encounter at Fife Ice Arena when Steelers came back from 5-1 down to take a 6-5 overtime victory, which saw Toms Hartmanis bag two goals and two assists in that game.
Despite losing the game, assistant coach Danny Stewart says the players can take a positive from that result.
“We can take how we have played against Sheffield as a positive, but we need to execute on the things that had made us successful just a few weeks back," Stewart said.
“Sheffield are a team desperate to win games in their run-in and we need to be prepared from the start, especially at home, as our fans deserve a good performance.
"As for the 6-5 loss before Christmas, I think if guys are still upset over that then they are in the wrong profession. You have to have a short memory in this game and prepare for your next battle.”
Flyers have been working on having a man in front of the net in order to up their goal tally, which Stewart admits has been poor of late, and has identified the need to start getting in to those dirty areas, so the players can give themselves a chance of scoring the goals needed to win a hockey match.
“It doesn't matter who the goalie is. We preach having traffic in front of the opposition net and going to the net every game so we make it tough on opposing goalies," he added.
"As for executing that, we need a lot more consistency and determination to get to those dirty areas, especially when we are struggling to score as we are."
Sheffield Steelers return to Fife Ice Arena on Saturday evening with a 7.15pm face-off. Nottingham Panthers then visit Fife Ice Arena on Sunday 6.30pm face-off.
